The car took 2 weeks at the body shop which was extremely quick as we informed John & Bob (sprayers) of the tight time schedule we were running to get the car ready for the Gti international show in May (which we didnt get the car done for) and the possible features for the Golf and Performance VW magazine.
Below are some pictures during the cars time at the body shop, you can see the inside has been completed and the outside is primed and ready to be flatted and then blown over in the grey

When we got the car back we were well chuffed and the paint quality was fantastic we just had the daunting thought of putting the engine back in. Before anything else was done the glass had to go back in and we needed a new front screen which we broke getting out, we thought it was wise to get a professional to fit the glass.
Below are some pictures of the car back from the body shop and after some bits were put back on.!!
As you can see from the picture (above) the beige on the inside looked great and we had to put the rear false floor in before the glass went in cause it would
only just fit through the front window!! lots more about the interior on page 3.
The other two pictures above were after putting the front lights in which were crystal items from Raceland and a standard front spoiler which was new from German & Swedish. We also put on a full lowered suspension kit (60mm) which brought the car down to a reasonable height and cleaned and waxoiled the underneath of the car.
Next we started to put on all the extra bits like chrome side strips, Bumpers, grille, crystal clear rear lights and door pins, window winders etc.......

And then the best part....the wheels.
We picked up a set of wheels of a mate in west London for 150. Porsche design 90's, a bit kerbed and scraped but we got them diamond cut at Spit and polish in Tonbridge and they came up really nice. We got hold of a set of H& R adaptors for £195. super cheap and superb quality
At Gti inters we picked up a set of genuine Porsche wheels centres (metal) for £40...bargain and well rare.
We got back put our tyres on them and spent an hour fitting them... They look the Bollocks!!

As you can see the car was now really coming along and we were getting very excited about showing it at our debut show...Vw Expo at the Hop farm. Paddock wood on June 27th.
The hardest part for us was to take out the old engine and put in the 16 valve lump, we picked up the 16valve engine and gearbox off a really nice guy called Panth up in London for £140. Here is the old 1.8 8 valve in the car and the 16valve when we picked it up, as you can see it needed a clean up and a paint!!
The Engine went from this to this!!
Work to the engine included:
Taking the clutch off and replacing it with a sachs clutch, taking the inlet manifold and rocker cover and alternator off to paint and to change the gaskets.
Then taking a wire brush to the block and getting all the crap off, wiping it all down with gunk then painting the bottom of the block grey and the top silver.
Taking off all the hoses and replacing all the jubilee clips and old rusty bits which look awfull.
Then finally changing the oil and filter,ht leads, distributor car and rotor arm ready for it to go into the car.
Putting the engine into the car was surprisingly easy, and fun !! we hired an engine hoist from a local hire company and made our way over to our garage to get the engine in but first we changed the engine mounts.....What a B@££*rd!...it took us all day to get the old ones out and put in the new ones, I would'nt suggest to anyone doing these themselves as they are a right pain and will take a very long time.
But eventually we got them done and in the morning of the next day we got up early and cracked on hard and got the engine in.
As you can see from the pictures above, the car is really coming along now and it is looking really mint. As you can imagine lots and lots of hours of work has gone into getting it this far and we were really chuffed with what we had done so far.
If you have any questions about what we have done so far then give us a mail and we will see if we can help you out.
Getting the exhaust done was hard, we had to tow the car from Tonbridge to Croydon which is not the best drive in the world in the rain and fog and cause i broke the hazard warning switch we had no indicators too.this took what seemed like forever but eventually we arrived at Longlife exhausts.
These guys were totally great and had the exhaust on in no time, custom made to how we wanted it with a life time guarantee!.
Because of the way we wanted the exhaust coming down the car then exiting before the rear wheel we did'nt have enough room to put a large silencer box on so we had to put 2 small boxes on. This results in a very loud exhaust note.
We chose to have a single box upswept tailpipe which we tought would suit the car a treat and we were right.......the car looked the dogs!!
We have a link to Longlife exhausts from the home page.
Have a look at this beeeeaaauutyy!!
